Tweeting, twittering and other Laconic bird noises

Yes, the world has been atwitter awhile. Most geeks or otherwise technically inclined happening dudes and dudettes have been using Twitter for a while. IBM even has their own internal microblogging facility, BlueTwit.

The likes of CNN and other media giants have long been using microblogging to source stories and clues. Last night's CNN BackStory featured how they used Facebook and Twitter to source info on the horrifying shooting in Germany.

What I didn't know until very recently is that there are several options to Twitter, both in terms of microblogging platform as well as social network. My favourite discovery so far is Laconica, mostly because I love all things open source but also because I think the name is just way cool :)

Abu Dhabi goes totally broadband

Good news for all the new developments happening in the capital. Now, if we could just have wireless everywhere ...
